The name must begin with a letter, but can include letters and numbers (just no spaces). In the Bookmark window, type the name you want for your bookmark. Cite references from both EndNote and EndNote Web in a single paper. Using EndNote and EndNote Web you can: Transfer references between the Web and the desktop using the EndNote Web section in the Groups panel. On the Insert tab, click the “Bookmark” button. EndNote now includes your own EndNote Web account so you can collaborate with colleagues and students easily. Switch to the “Insert” tab on Word’s Ribbon. Place your cursor where you want to insert the bookmark. In order to hyperlink to a different location within the same document, you must first set up a bookmark to which you’ll link. RELATED: How to Create and Update a Table of Contents in Microsoft Word It’s the same kind of thing Word does when you automatically generate a table of contents. For example, you might tell a reader that they’ll “find more information on the subject in Part 2.” Instead of leaving them to find Part 2 on their own, why not turn it into a hyperlink. If you’re working with a long Word document, you can make things easier on readers by linking to other parts of the document when you mention them. Insert a Hyperlink to Another Location in the Same Document It shows as shaded so it is a field. And just like that, you’ve turned that text into a link. If I hover over it, I see a finger suggesting it is a hyperlink, but Ctrl+Click foes not jump to the endnote. It looks similar to the first superscript, but not identical. (2) I create a second reference to that same endnote after some other text by clicking on References | Cross-reference | selecting Endnote | selecting Endnote number (formatted) | and then selecting the endnote. If the paper is dozens of pages long and has dozens of endnotes, a hyperlink would be helpful if getting to the right one. It is not even a field, which was a surprise to me. (1) I create an endnote after some text by clicking on References | Insert Endnote.Īfter I enter the endnote text, I see a little "i" superscript after the text, but it is not a hyperlink and I can't find any way to make it one. Autoformat does not see the footnote/endnote ranges. There is little need for hyperlinks for footnotes as they are on the same page. While if you manually type footnote or endnote texts web addresses and e-mail addresses in Word documents, they will be converted to hyperlinks using the autoformat as you type option, it is not possible to subsequently convert such addresses to hyperlinks using the autoformat process. It is specifically relevant to endnotes, not footnotes.
